As predicted in one of my older posts, AirAsia has zoomed in on countries within a radius of 5-8 hours from its main hubs such as KLIA, BKK, CNX.

With sweeping reduction in flights to South Asia (Indian Subcontinent) AirAsia stepped up discussion for flights into countries nearby. Look at your world map. There are Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh (done), Nicobar Islands, Kunming, Chongqing (done), Guilin (done), and several more minor places that aren’t on the minds of other airlines.

Kathmandu makes a strong destination valid in terms of profitability as well as spreading to the whole of Asia where possible. Well, it IS Air ASIA. There are thousands of Nepalese working in Malaysia. From an old colonial heritage of having very disciplined soldiers (Gurkhas) Nepalese working abroad is a common way out of general poverty.
